About Us

We are a Second Year Undergraduate Seminar class in English, at University College Cork, Ireland. Our instructors are Dr Carrie Griffin and Dr Orla Murphy. During the academic year 2007-2008, we studied Heroes in the earliest English literatures. We examined Anglo-Saxon literature, such as Beowulf and The Battle of Maldon; we read excepts from Thomas Malory’s Le Morte d’Arthur; and we looked at the early medieval Robin Hood ballads, references, and songs. Becuase this course is concerned, too, with hypertext and materiality, we looked at the Ruthwell Cross, the Bayeux Tapestry and, as an assignment, we wrote entries for this, our course webpage.
